Navy Chief Launches IMION Newsletter to Boost Innovation

On a significant occasion in Lagos, Vice Admiral Idi Abba, the Chief of Naval Staff, unveiled the maiden newsletter of the International Maritime Institute of Nigeria (IMION). He called for renewed innovative collaboration and strategic policy implementation to unlock Nigeria's vast maritime potential.

Abba described the newsletter as a major step towards strengthening the institute's growth and enhancing stakeholder engagement in the maritime sector. He noted that the newsletter serves as a vital platform for knowledge sharing and documenting progress to promote excellence within Nigeria's blue economy.

The event coincided with the opening of a three-day executive program focused on Nigeria's blue economy policy, which aims to bring together key stakeholders from government, academia, and industry. Rear Admiral TC Udofia (Rtd), the IMION director, highlighted the economic growth and job creation potential of Nigeria's maritime trade, fisheries, offshore energy, tourism, and marine biotechnology.

He emphasized the need for coordinated action and strong government collaboration to realize these opportunities.
