Nigerian Navy Recovers 87,000 Litres of Illegal Fuel

The Nigerian Navy has intensified its efforts against crude oil theft and illegal refining in the Niger Delta, successfully uncovering a concealed fuel storage facility in the Okarki axis of Rivers State. During this operation, approximately 87,000 litres of suspected illegally refined Automotive Gas Oil (AGO) were recovered.

This operation was conducted under Operation Delta Sentinel, a military initiative focused on dismantling illegal refining sites and disrupting crude oil theft networks. The operation was executed by personnel from the Nigerian Navy Ship SOROH, acting on credible intelligence.

A statement from Navy Captain Abiodun Folorunso, the Director of Naval Information, confirmed the recovery of the products and associated equipment used for unlawful storage and handling. The Navy's ongoing operations aim to safeguard critical oil infrastructure and combat economic sabotage in the region, which has faced persistent challenges from criminal networks involved in illegal refining.
