Troops Recover 464,268 Litres of Stolen Oil Products

During the second quarter of 2026, troops successfully recovered 464,268 litres of stolen petroleum products and dismantled 12 illegal refinery sites in the Niger Delta. This achievement was announced by Major General Michael Onoja during a monthly operational briefing at the Defence Headquarters in Abuja.

The operations targeted illegal refinery camps, oil thieves, pipeline vandals, and criminal networks undermining Nigeria's economy. Troops arrested 84 suspects related to crude oil theft and destroyed several illegal refinery sites and storage facilities across Rivers, Bayelsa, Delta, and Akwa Ibom states.

Significant operations included the dismantling of illegal crude oil siphoning installations in Okarki Forest and the interception of trucks carrying approximately 45,000 litres of illegally acquired oil. From June 19 to June 22, troops intercepted an additional 103,500 litres of suspected illegal refined oil.

Major General Onoja assured that the armed forces would continue to protect Nigeria's critical assets against economic sabotage.
