NBA Launches Disability Inclusion Policy for Lawyers

The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) has implemented a disability inclusion policy designed to ensure access and non-discrimination for lawyers and law students with disabilities. This announcement was made by Patience Etumudon, chairperson of the NBA Lawyers with Disabilities Forum, during a stakeholder summit held in Asaba, Delta State.

Etumudon described the policy as a significant milestone in promoting disability rights and creating an inclusive legal profession. The policy aims to remove barriers faced by lawyers with disabilities and guarantees their active participation in the affairs of the association.

Furthermore, she encouraged law firms and NBA branches to create accommodating environments for persons with disabilities. Omamuzo Ereb, the Solicitor General and Permanent Secretary of the Delta State Ministry of Justice, emphasized the need for equal opportunities for lawyers with disabilities and mentioned that Delta State is enacting anti-discrimination laws to strengthen support systems for persons with disabilities.
