Badejo-Okusanya Leads NBA Election with 47.18% Votes

Oyinkansola Badejo-Okusanya is poised to become the president of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) as voting concluded on July 19, 2026. She secured 12,317 votes, representing 47.18% of the total votes cast.

Her nearest competitor, Lateef Akangb, received 7,934 votes (30.39%), while Olumuyiwa Akinboro obtained 5,855 votes (22.43%). The Electoral Committee of the Nigerian Bar Association reported a total of 26,106 votes cast out of 82,172 registered voters, resulting in a voter turnout of 31.86%.

The voting commenced at 7:35 AM on July 18, 2026, and was conducted over a 24-hour period. Despite the results being displayed on a live dashboard, the Electoral Committee has yet to officially declare a winner.

The election faced controversies, including calls for postponement and allegations of technical glitches with the electronic voting portal, which Akangb claimed compromised the election's credibility.
