Oyinkansola Badejo-Okusanya Elected NBA's First Female President

Oyinkansola Badejo-Okusanya was declared the winner of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) 2026 national office elections, becoming the first elected female president since the association's establishment in 1960. The election results were announced on Sunday by Chief Aham Ejelam, SAN, the chairman of the electoral committee, at the NBA national secretariat in Abuja.

Badejo-Okusanya secured 12,317 votes, representing 47.18% of the total votes cast, defeating her closest challenger, Lateef Akangba, SAN, who received 7,934 votes (30.39%), and Aar Olumuyiwa Akinboro, SAN, who garnered 5,855 votes (22.43%). The total votes recorded were 26,106.

Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan congratulated Badejo-Okusanya, describing her victory as a defining moment for women in the legal profession and expressing confidence in her ability to provide visionary leadership for the NBA during her two-year term from 2026 to 2028.
