Badejo-Okunsanya Leads NBA Presidential Election Results

Oyinkansola Badejo-Okunsanya is poised to be declared the President-elect of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) following the conclusion of voting. She garnered 12,317 votes, accounting for 47.18% of the total votes cast.

Her closest rival, Lateef Akangb, received 7,934 votes, while Olumuyiwa Akinboro finished third with 5,855 votes. The Electoral Committee of the Nigerian Bar Association (ECNBA) extended the voting period until 7:35 PM on Sunday due to widespread complaints about technical difficulties that prevented eligible lawyers from casting their ballots within the initial timeframe.

Despite the conclusion of the voting process, the ECNBA has yet to officially declare the results. The election was marked by significant attention due to allegations of voter disenfranchisement and technical glitches that disrupted the voting process.

The committee has committed to ensuring a free and fair electoral process, and if confirmed, Badejo-Okunsanya will make history as the second female president of the NBA.
