NBA Slams Ibom Air, AON Over Life Ban On Emmanson, Condemns Circulation of Indecent Video

The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) has criticized Ibom Air and the Airline Operators of Nigeria (AON) for imposing a lifetime ban on Ms. Comfort Emmanson, calling the decision an unlawful violation of human dignity.

NBA President Mazi Afam Osigwe condemned the circulation of an indecent video showing Emmanson being forcibly removed from an Ibom Air flight on August 10, stripped of her clothing, and humiliated in public. The NBA stated that the incident was degrading and violated Emmanson's rights to dignity and privacy.

They called for an independent investigation before any sanctions are imposed, emphasizing that the authority to suspend or restrict a passenger's right to fly lies with statutory regulators, not private associations or airlines. The NBA also pledged pro bono legal support for Emmanson to seek redress, emphasizing that justice must prevail when the rights of Nigerians are trampled upon.
