NBF Invites 40 Boxers for Commonwealth Games Training Camp

The Nigeria Boxing Federation (NBF) has officially invited 40 boxers to participate in the final phase of preparations for the 2026 Commonwealth Games, with a training camp set to open in Lagos on May 1. The selection includes 20 male and 20 female boxers, primarily finalists from the recent national boxing trials held in February.

The camp will take place at the boxing hostel inside the National Stadium in Surulere, Lagos, with training sessions beginning the following day. Babatunde Laguda, the chairman of the NBF technical committee, emphasized the federation's commitment to ensuring that the boxing contingent is well-prepared for the Glasgow Games.

The NBF leadership, under Wale Edun, is prioritizing early camps for international events, aiming to deliver a merit-based final list of boxers. Omonlei Imadu, the vice president of the NBF, assured that Nigeria would be represented by 10 boxers at the Commonwealth Games scheduled from July 23 to August 3, 2026.
