Nigeria Boxing Team Prepares for 2026 Commonwealth Games

The Nigeria National Boxing team is gearing up for the 2026 Commonwealth Games, scheduled to take place in Glasgow from July 24 to August 1, 2026. The competition will feature 14 events, split evenly between men and women.

Bless Orakw emerged as the champion in the women's 70kg final, winning by a unanimous decision of 5-0. The team also includes Abiodun Adesoja, who qualified for the men's 90kg category after outpointing his opponent, with a score of 3-2.

The Nigeria National Boxing Federation's technical director praised the athletes for their performances during the qualification rounds, which spanned four days. The team is expected to receive significant media coverage as they prepare for the upcoming games, following a successful outing at the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games, where they won four medals, including silver and bronze.
