Nigeria Boxers Prepare for Ghana Ahead of Commonwealth Games

The Nigerian boxing team has been charged to secure a victory against Ghana in an international friendly match at the Accra Sports Stadium. Edun delivered a message during the team's training camp in Lagos, emphasizing the importance of discipline and commitment as they represent Nigeria against their West African rivals.

The 17-member Nigerian delegation, which includes boxers, coaches, and officials, is scheduled to depart from Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos ahead of the bout. This friendly match is part of the preparations for the Commonwealth Games, which will take place in Glasgow from July 23 to August 2, 2026.

Babatunde Laguda, Chairman of the NBF Technical Committee, described the friendly as a crucial test for the squad, noting that it offers real competition that will sharpen their training. Omonlei Imadu, NBF Vice President, confirmed that preparations for the international friendly are intensifying.
