NCAA Reports Decrease in Flight Delays and Cancellations

The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), represented by Director of Public Affairs Chinedu Ez, announced a significant decline in flight delays and cancellations on domestic routes. Michael Achimugu, a key figure in the NCAA, described the recent improvements as impressive and encouraging, attributing them to a combination of stable operations following the peak festive season and a natural dip in passenger volume.

Despite this positive trend, Achimugu cautioned that Nigeria is entering the rainy season, which may lead to weather-related travel disruptions in the coming weeks. This announcement was made during a ceremony marking the 80th anniversary of Ethiopian Airlines in Lagos, where discussions on recent aircraft acquisitions and the focus on the Nigerian aviation sector took place.

Additionally, Achimugu noted that passengers have found it challenging to navigate the NCAA's complaint portal, prompting the authority to explore solutions to rectify these issues. The Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) has yet to submit a report regarding ticket prices.
