NCC Supports Girls ICT Empowerment Initiative Tour

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) praised the initiative led by Minister Dr. Bosun Tijani, which focuses on empowering Nigerian girls with digital knowledge and skills.

This initiative is part of the National Girls ICT Program, which aims to bridge the gender gap in the technology sector. A recent event involved 185 students participating in a tour of the NCC museum in Abuja, designed to inspire greater participation of girls in ICT and STEM disciplines.

The tour highlighted the evolution of Nigeria's telecommunications sector, tracing its history from the establishment of the first communication facilities in 1886 to the current digital revolution. Dr.

Aminu Maida, Executive Vice Chairman of the NCC, emphasized the importance of understanding the industry's history to inspire future contributions to digital innovation. The museum tour featured historical artifacts, including postal system items and telecommunications equipment, aimed at educating students about the sector's transformation.
