NCC Hosts 185 Students for ICT Empowerment Tour

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) commended the ministerial initiative led by Hon. Minister of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, Dr.

Bosun Tijani, which aims to empower younger generations, particularly Nigerian girls, with digital knowledge and skills. On Thursday, the NCC hosted 185 students as part of the National Girls in ICT program, which seeks to bridge the gender gap in the technology sector.

The excursion included a tour of the NCC museum in Abuja, where students learned about the evolution of Nigeria's telecommunications sector, dating back to 1886. Dr.

Aminu Maida, Executive Vice Chairman of the NCC, emphasized the importance of understanding the industry's history to inspire meaningful contributions to Nigeria's digital economy. The museum tour featured historical artifacts, including a post office counter from 1852 and various telecommunications equipment, illustrating the transition from analog to digital systems.
