NCC Advocates Digital Inclusivity for $1 Trillion Economy

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has asserted that achieving President Bola Tinubu’s $1 trillion economy target hinges on the inclusion of all individuals and sectors in the digital ecosystem. This statement was made by Executive Vice Chairman Dr. Aminu Maida during the 4th edition of the NCC Hackathon Live Show on Thursday in Abuja, represented by Executive Commissioner Rimini Makama.

Maida emphasized that barriers faced by persons with disabilities (PWDs) in accessing digital technologies lead to exclusion from vital services such as education and healthcare. He stated that national progress is unattainable if segments of the population remain digitally excluded.

The hackathon serves as a strategic initiative to foster innovation and ensure inclusivity in Nigeria's digital transformation. Hellen Obi, Director of the Digital Economy Department at NCC, expressed gratitude for the collaboration with the Central Bank of Nigeria and MTN Nigeria to support young innovators.

Abdulhaqq Somoye, founder of Sora Solutions, won the hackathon with a N3 million prize.
