NCS Launches Electronic Cargo Tracking System at PTML

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) conducted a Sensitisation Workshop on the deployment of the Electronic Cargo Tracking System (ECTS) at the PTML Conference Hall. Deputy Comptroller Nura Miko, Controller of the PTML Area Command, announced that PTML is the second pilot command for the ECTS rollout, following its success at Apapa Area Command.

This initiative is part of the NCS's reform and modernization agenda under the leadership of Comptroller-General Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, PhD, MFR, FNIPR, PSC+. The ECTS aims to address challenges in cargo movement, which previously relied on physical escorts, leading to inefficiencies due to rising trade volumes.

The system will enable real-time cargo monitoring via GPS, enhance visibility, and provide alerts for route deviations and unauthorized stops. Additionally, it will optimize manpower deployment, allowing officers to focus on core Customs functions and improve revenue assurance through accurate cargo movement data.
