NCWS Urges Women to Vote Wisely for 2027 Elections

The National Council of Women’s Societies (NCWS) called on women in Nigeria to mobilize and vote wisely in the upcoming 2027 general elections. This appeal was made by Mrs. Priscilla Kuye, President of the NCWS South-West Forum, during the council’s annual conference held in Ibadan, Oyo State.

Kuye emphasized the importance of supporting candidates who advocate for good governance, the rule of law, and fundamental human rights. The conference addressed pressing issues such as insecurity, unemployment, and inadequate access to essential services.

It also focused on educating women about their rights and the electoral process. The NCWS's communiqué advocated for increased representation of women in political positions and encouraged women to pursue elective offices.

Additionally, it called for the empowerment of women through access to low-interest loans for business development. Plans were announced to celebrate the centenary of Prof. Adetoun Ogunsheye, Nigeria’s first female professor, on December 5, 2026.

The NCWS was registered on June 24, 1965, and aims to promote women’s education and political participation.
