Atiku's Aide Urges Opposition Unity Ahead of 2027 Elections

Atiku Abubakar's aide has called on opposition leaders, including Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso, to unite in preparation for the 2027 elections. This appeal follows a Federal High Court ruling in Lokoja that set aside an earlier judgment directing the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to register the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).

The aide described the court's decision as a wake-up call for the opposition, alleging that President Bola Tinubu is pursuing a de facto one-party state and seeking to weaken opposition parties ahead of the upcoming elections. The aide emphasized that it is not too late for opposition parties to harmonize their strengths to unseat the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

The court's ruling also addressed the claims of the Peace Movement Party regarding ownership of the NDC logo, stating that the NDC's registration is crucial for its participation in the electoral process, with a final determination expected by December 10, 2025.
