NDC Elects New Chairman, Backs Obi and Kwankwaso for 2027

The Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC) conducted its state congress in Cross River State, where Goddi Akpama was elected as chairman. The congress was supervised by a committee led by Christian Gekp, alongside Emmanuel Yakurr, Gabriel Abu, and Clement Agiangi, who chaired the appeal committee.

Akpama pledged to justify the confidence placed in him and to promote inclusivity within the party, emphasizing that the NDC will not betray the trust of its members. He urged party members to remain united and focused ahead of the 2027 general elections, warning against defeatist tendencies and the influence of money in party affairs.

The NDC expressed its commitment to supporting Peter Obi and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso as the presidential and vice-presidential candidates, respectively, for the upcoming elections. Henri Sierek Dickson, the director general, highlighted the importance of unity among members to produce the next leaders of the country.
