NDC Inaugurates Reconciliation Committee Ahead of 2027

On Thursday, Prof Pat Utomi was inaugurated as the chairman of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) National Reconciliation Committee in Abuja. This committee was established to reconcile aggrieved aspirants and stakeholders following the party's nationwide congresses, convention, and primaries, particularly in light of grievances and litigation arising from these events ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Utomi described his role as both a privilege and a significant responsibility, emphasizing the importance of restoring unity within the party while focusing on Nigeria's future, particularly for its youth. Co-chairman Buba Galadima acknowledged the challenges of reconciling party members but expressed optimism about the committee's potential for success.

He criticized the current electoral framework, stating it is designed to disadvantage opposition parties. The committee's inauguration was led by NDC National Chairman Senator Moses Cleopas, who noted that its tasks extend beyond merely resolving disputes.
