NDC Criticizes Orji Kalu for Praising Tinubu's Reforms

The Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC) has publicly criticized Senator Orji Kalu, the Chief Whip of the Senate, for his recent remarks commending President Bola Tinubu's economic reforms. NDC's Deputy National Public Secretary, Abdulmumin Abdulsalam, issued a statement in Abuja, asserting that Kalu's comments were misleading and disconnected from the actual challenges Nigerians face.

Kalu expressed confidence that Tinubu would remain unbeatable in the 2027 general elections, even as opposition parties explore coalition talks. While acknowledging some macroeconomic improvements, Kalu noted persistent grassroots challenges.

The NDC dismissed Kalu's positive assessment, insisting that opposition forces are gaining momentum despite contrary claims. Abdulsalam condemned Kalu's convoluted comments regarding the political realities in Nigeria, asserting that the opposition will ultimately defeat the ruling party, which he accused of stifling democracy and perpetuating poverty.

The NDC advised Kalu to speak truthfully about the nation's challenges rather than offering what they termed as a "pass mark" for Tinubu's economic policies.
