Obioha: No 2027 Elections Without Peter Obi on Ballot

Okechukwu Christoph Obioha, leader of the Njiko Igbo Forum, warned that there will be no successful 2027 general elections in Nigeria without Peter Obi on the ballot. His remarks followed a ruling by the Federal High Court, which directed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to deregister the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).

Justice Isah Dashen delivered the ruling in Lokoja, impacting the rights of the Peace Movement Party (PMP), which claimed ownership of the logo adopted by the NDC. Obioha expressed concerns over public confidence in the judiciary, describing its decisions as inconsistent and accusing the current administration, particularly under President Bola Tinubu, of weakening judicial institutions.

He emphasized that citizens are losing trust in the judiciary and warned that without Peter Obi, the electoral process would be compromised, stating that the current political system is exhausting and detrimental to the country.
