NDC Reconciliation Committee Aims for Unity Ahead of 2027

The newly inaugurated National Reconciliation Committee of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has committed to healing divisions within the party in preparation for the 2027 general elections. During the inauguration in Abuja, Professor Pat Utomi, the committee's chairman, described the task as both humbling and challenging, emphasizing that Nigeria's future relies on the success of this reconciliation process.

He criticized the culture of self-interest in Nigerian politics and urged party members to prioritize the collective good over individual ambitions. Utomi highlighted the need to involve young people in nation-building, given Nigeria's median age of 19.5 years, and expressed that every member participating in the reconciliation would have a role in building a better Nigeria.

Co-Chairman Buba Galadima acknowledged the difficulties in reconciling aggrieved members but expressed confidence in the committee's ability to achieve its goals, framing the reconciliation as the beginning of the party's journey toward electoral victory in 2027.
