NDC Forms 20-Member Panel for 2026 Primaries

The Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC) has announced the formation of a 20-member committee tasked with screening aspirants for the governorship and National Assembly primaries in preparation for the 2026 elections. This decision was disclosed in a statement issued on Friday from the party's national secretariat in Abuja.

Ikenna Enekweizu, who will serve as the committee's secretary, stated that the committee's establishment follows recommendations from the national working committee. The committee is mandated to review and scrutinize aspirants, ensuring a transparent process that promotes consensus and unity within the party.

The screening process is designed to facilitate the emergence of widely accepted candidates through free, fair, and credible mechanisms. The NDC has scheduled the direct primaries to take place between May 28 and May 30, in accordance with the party's electoral guidelines.

Successful aspirants will be required to obtain clearance from the national selection committee to purchase nomination forms.
