NDDC Calls for Private Sector Engagement in Niger Delta

On Monday, Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), advocated for increased private sector involvement in fostering business growth within the Niger Delta region.

Speaking at a business roundtable organized by the Niger Delta Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture in Port Harcourt, Dr. Ogbuku urged the chamber to establish a think tank team comprising astute business entrepreneurs to facilitate synergy between the private sector and government strategies.

He emphasized the importance of not solely relying on government initiatives for development. Former Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB), Dr.

Simbi Wabote, highlighted the need for a master plan to anchor the region's development, while Dr. Abigail Duke Orok from the Cross River State Commission for Commerce called for diversification beyond oil, encouraging investment in real estate, agriculture, and solid minerals to create employment opportunities and reduce crime rates.
