NDDC Seeks State Support for Niger Delta Games

The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), under the leadership of Managing Director Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, is actively seeking support from various states to sustain the Niger Delta Games.

This initiative is part of the NDDC's efforts to deepen grassroots sports development and discover young talent across the Niger Delta region. Dr.

Ogbuku reaffirmed this commitment during the opening ceremony of the second edition of the games, which took place at Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin, Edo State. He emphasized that the sports fiesta is designed to focus on amateur athletes and aims to groom home-grown talent rather than relying on imported athletes for medals.

The NDDC's statement, issued by Director of Corporate Affairs Seledi Thompson Wakama, welcomed support from governors to sustain the games. Furthermore, the initiative aligns with President Bola Tinubu's agenda to create opportunities for youth through sports development, as highlighted by Senator John Enoh, who represented the president at the event.
