NDDC Urges Community to Protect Development Projects

The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) issued a warning to traditional rulers and youths in Cross River State regarding the vandalism of development projects. Director Daniel Ajuwa made this announcement during a sensitization program aimed at promoting community ownership and protection of NDDC projects.

He highlighted that vandalism undermines future interventions, as significant resources have been invested in projects like solar power street lights to enhance community security. Ajuwa noted that individuals caught vandalizing these facilities have been recorded on camera, which is disheartening given the efforts made to improve living conditions in the Niger Delta.

Dr. Carol Bichen Ebuta, who facilitated the program, pointed out that 50% of NDDC projects in the region are no longer functional due to vandalism and lack of community ownership.

She urged residents to change their perception of government projects and to mobilize local vigilante groups to protect these facilities for the benefit of the community.
