Edo Governor Okpebholo Redeems N30M Pledge to Athletes

On Tuesday, Governor Mondai Okpebholo of Edo State redeemed a N30 million pledge made to Team Edo, which emerged victorious at the Niger Delta Games. Team Edo secured a total of 52 gold, 34 silver, and 25 bronze medals, finishing ahead of eight participating states.

The pledge was redeemed during a reception held at the Government House in Benin City. Governor Okpebholo reaffirmed his administration's commitment to discovering, nurturing, and investing in young sports talent.

He congratulated the athletes, coaches, and sports administrators for their dedication and discipline that led to the state's top finish in the medal table. The governor noted that this victory reflects the enormous sports potential within the state and emphasized the administration's ongoing investment in strategic sports development.

He commended Amadin Enabulel, the chairman of the sports committee, for his efforts, which contributed to the success of the athletes. This victory marks a significant milestone in Edo State's sports history, being the first major multi-sport tournament triumph in 24 years.
