Team Edo Dominates Niger Delta Games with 22 Gold Medals

Team Edo is currently leading the medal chart at the Niger Delta Games, hosted in Benin City, with a total of 22 gold, 12 silver, and 13 bronze medals, summing up to 47 medals. Edo's performance has outshined Delta State, which has secured 14 gold, 19 silver, and 11 bronze medals for a total of 44, while Bayelsa State stands third with 13 gold, 7 silver, and 11 bronze medals, totaling 31.

Desmond Enabulele, the Executive Chairman of the Edo State Sports Commission, expressed satisfaction with the athletes' performance, attributing their success to strategic planning and disciplined early preparations. The athletes underwent a 12-day intensive training camp to enhance their competitive edge.

Enabulele praised the coaches for their outstanding work in swimming, powerlifting, chess, taekwondo, and weightlifting, emphasizing the athletes' dedication and fighting spirit, which have contributed to Edo's commanding lead in the medal table.
