NDLEA Arrests 52 Drug Suspects in Kano Operation

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) conducted a significant operation in Kano, codenamed "Operation Sharar Mafaka," leading to the arrest of 52 drug suspects. The operation commenced on April 27, 2026, targeting 20 identified drug hotspots within the metropolitan area.

According to a statement from the Kano Strategic Command's Public Relations Officer, Sadiq Muhammad Maigatari, the operation involved coordinated raids in various locations, including Filin Idi, Tashar Rami, Fagg Abattoir, and Farm Centre, resulting in the initial arrest of 15 suspects. Further operations on April 28 extended to areas such as Hotoro, Mariri Park, Ramin Jirga, Tishama, and Yankaba Park, leading to the apprehension of an additional 16 suspects, including three women.

Subsequent raids in Kwanar Ungogo, Titin Jajira, Tudun Bojuwa, and Sabon Gari led to 21 more arrests, including one female suspect. In total, four women were among those apprehended, along with assorted illicit drug paraphernalia and locally made weapons.

The operation aims to dismantle drug hubs and restore order, with NDLEA Chairman Mohammed Buba Marwa reaffirming the agency's commitment to combating illicit drug activities across the state.
