NDLEA Seizes 510 Cannabis Blocks, Arrests Suspect in Kano

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) conducted a significant operation in Kano, seizing 510 blocks of cannabis sativa and arresting a suspect named Sani Musa, aged 34, from Bebeji Local Government Area. This operation took place on March 10, 2026, as part of a strategic initiative led by D.Y.

Lawal, the state command's head. The operation was intelligence-led, and Musa reportedly admitted to being involved in drug trafficking, indicating that the seized drugs were intended for distribution during the Sallah period when demand typically increases.

The NDLEA's Assistant Superintendent of Narcotics, Sadiq Muhammad Maigatari, confirmed the details in a statement issued on Thursday. The agency is actively pursuing another suspect, identified as Alaramma, who is believed to be involved in the drug trade.

Brig Gen. Mohammed Buba Marwa, the agency's chairman and chief executive officer, urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities, emphasizing the agency's commitment to maintaining anti-drug operations, particularly during festive periods.
