NDLEA Arrests Ex-Lawmaker and Drug Suspects in Lagos

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) arrested former two-term councillor Sheluru Sadiq Olalekan in Ibeju Lekki, Lagos State, on March 2, 2026, recovering 40 kilograms of illicit drugs, specifically a potent strain of cannabis known as skunk. Olalekan, who previously represented the Orimedu community, admitted ownership of the drugs found in his residence.

In a separate operation on March 3, 2026, NDLEA intercepted Emeka Hyginu Okwor, a 32-year-old businessman, at Zuba, Abuja, where 1,000 pills of tapentadol (250mg) were discovered concealed inside baby diapers. Okwor reportedly admitted to owning the drugs, intending to deliver them to Guduwa village in Gurara Local Government Area, Niger State.

Additionally, a parcel containing 1.55 kilograms of synthetic cannabis, referred to as Colorado, was intercepted in Kogi State, belonging to 36-year-old Cameroonian Mei Ali Muhamat Maroua, who was traveling from Cameroon to Lagos.
