NDLEA Arrests Suspect with 1,499 Bottles of Codeine

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) arrested a 45-year-old suspect, Lawal Bala, in Kano for transporting 1,499 bottles of codeine. The arrest occurred in Lambu Tofa Local Government Area and was part of an intelligence-led operation aimed at seizing illicit drugs.

The suspect was intercepted while attempting to deliver the drugs to a local dealer in Kano, intended for consumption during the upcoming Sallah celebration. Bala admitted to transporting the illicit substance, having worked in township services in Abuja for two years and confirmed receiving payment for the transport of the consignments.

The NDLEA's statement emphasized their commitment to protecting the community from the harms of illicit substances and their determination to apply pressure on drug networks to ensure offenders are brought to justice.
