NDLEA Launches Nationwide Counselor Training Program

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has launched a comprehensive training program for its counselors across Nigeria, as announced by Mr. Femi Babafemi, the Director of Media and Advocacy. This initiative, which commenced at the NDLEA Academy in Jos, Plateau State, involves over 100 counselors from various formations of the agency.

The training is coordinated by the Directorate of Counseling, Treatment and Rehabilitation (DCTR) and marks the first capacity-building program for NDLEA counselors in several years. Brig-Gen Mohamed Marwa (rtd), the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the NDLEA, represented by ACGN Bashir Ibrahim, emphasized the importance of the training in revitalizing staff morale and equipping counselors with modern therapeutic tools.

Key objectives include harmonizing practices, enhancing clinical proficiency, aligning rehabilitation practices with standards, and improving data management. The initiative aims to strengthen the agency's commitment to effective drug demand reduction and improve the quality of care in rehabilitation facilities.
