NDLEA Seizes N724.5m Cannabis in Edo, Arrests Suspects

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) intercepted cannabis valued at N724.5 million in Edo State, leading to the arrest of several suspects. The operation, led by Mitchel Ofoyeju, involved two articulated trucks along the Auchi-Abuja road.

The first truck, registered as OYO LUI 172 XC, contained 260 bags weighing 3,900 kilograms, while the second truck, OYO LUI 281 XC, carried 223 bags weighing 3,345 kilograms. In total, the seizure amounted to 483 bags with a gross weight of 7,245 kilograms.

Preliminary investigations indicated that the illicit shipment originated from Sabongida Ora in the Owan West Local Government Area and was destined for Abuja. Ofoyeju emphasized that the successful interception serves as a warning to drug traffickers that Edo State is not a safe haven for criminal activities.
