NDLEA Seizes Drugs Concealed in Water Purifiers

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) intercepted illicit drug consignments concealed within water purifier machines shipped from the Netherlands to Lagos. The agency's Director of Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, reported the seizure of three kilograms of ketamine and 199 grams of MDMA, commonly known as ecstasy, on May 26.

In related operations, a couple, Musa Sundai and Merci Sundai, were arrested alongside suspect Salomi Ezekiel in Kaduna State. On May 24, NDLEA officers arrested 30-year-old Sunusi Musa, who was allegedly transporting 380 rounds of 7.62mm military-grade ammunition in Katsina State.

Further investigations led to the recovery of 457 kilograms of skunk in Niger State, with suspect Godwin Zakka arrested. On May 28, NDLEA patrols in Enugu State intercepted a commercial vehicle, recovering 22,000 tramadol pills, 100 ampoules of pentazocine, and 200 grams of bromazepam, leading to the arrest of Jame Maigari Wisdom.

NDLEA Chairman Brig Gen Mohammed Buba Marwa commended the officers involved in these operations and urged continued efforts to reduce drug supply and raise public awareness against drug abuse.
