NDLEA and NDE Collaborate on Drug Rehabilitation in Abia

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) and the National Directorate of Employment (NDE) are partnering to rehabilitate drug addicts in Abia State. During a visit, the state coordinator of the NDE, Nwachukwu Tessi, highlighted the importance of sustained support in the recovery process for drug addicts.

Tessi stressed that rehabilitation alone is insufficient without proper societal reintegration. She urged the NDE to introduce skill acquisition programs for individuals currently undergoing treatment at NDLEA rehabilitation centers.

The NDLEA, represented by Chile Chigbu, is committed to equipping rehabilitated drug users with practical skills that will assist them in coping better during their recovery. Tessi further encouraged the NDE to consider providing employment opportunities for rehabilitated individuals, noting that engagement in productive activities can help prevent relapse and ensure they remain responsible members of society.

The NDE has professional trainers across the state ready to support skill acquisition programs covering eighty different vocational skills.
