NDLEA and US DEA Strengthen Ties Against Drug Terrorism

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) of Nigeria and the United States Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) have committed to deepening their collaboration to dismantle drug cartels and combat terrorism. This commitment was made during a workshop held at the NDLEA headquarters in Abuja, as stated by NDLEA Director of Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi.

NDLEA Chairman, Brig Gen Mohammed Buba Marwa (Rtd), and DEA Country Attaché, Ms. Daphn Morrison, outlined plans to align Nigerian and US law enforcement efforts against serious drug-related threats affecting both countries and the international community.

Marwa emphasized the workshop's goal to produce a joint declaration and coordinated action plan over the next twelve months, highlighting the link between drug trafficking and terrorism. The workshop aims to enhance intelligence sharing and operational effectiveness, with a focus on taking down high-level targets involved in drug financing for terrorist networks.

Morrison commended NDLEA's recent successes in drug seizures and arrests, reinforcing the commitment to combat transnational organized crime.
