NDLEA Secures 974 Drug Convictions in First Quarter 2026

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) reported securing 974 drug-related convictions nationwide within the first quarter of 2026. This includes 11 high-profile drug kingpins who received a combined total of 254 years in prison.

Femi Babafemi, the Director of Media and Advocacy, released a statement detailing that among the convicted, 899 were male and 75 were female. Notable convictions include Adegbit Solomon, an Italian businessman sentenced to 130 years for 15 counts of drug-related offenses, and Ridwan Animashaun, who received a 25-year sentence for repeat offenses.

Other significant cases involved Rauf Asogba and Seun Olaniyi, who were sentenced to 17 years for trafficking 1,779 kilograms of skunk. NDLEA Chairman Mohammed Buba Marwa described the outcomes as a watershed moment in Nigeria's fight against drug abuse and trafficking, urging public cooperation to sustain efforts against illicit drugs.
