NDLEA Secures 974 Drug Convictions in Q1 2026

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) reported securing 974 drug trafficking convictions during the first quarter of 2026, with 899 male and 75 female offenders. The breakdown of convictions includes 265 in January, 316 in February, and 393 in March.

Among the 11 drug kingpins successfully prosecuted, Adegbit Solomon K. Obama, a 42-year-old businessman, was sentenced to 130 years in prison by Justice Musa Kakaki at the Federal High Court in Lagos for 15 counts of drug trafficking.

Other notable sentences include Ridwan Animashaun, sentenced to long-term imprisonment, and two individuals, Rauf Asogba and Seun Olaniyi, sentenced to 17 years each by Justice Abiodun Jordan Adeyemi in Ogun State. The NDLEA's efforts reflect a relentless approach to combating drug trafficking, as emphasized by Brig Gen. Buba Marwa, the agency's Chairman and Chief Executive Officer.
