NDPHC to Supply Additional 1,500MW to Lagos Electricity Market

The Managing Director and CEO of the Niger Delta Power Holding Company (NDPHC), Emmanuel Ojor, announced the company's readiness to operate in the Lagos electricity market. NDPHC plans to supply an additional 1,500 megawatts of electricity to Lagos State, which currently receives 1,000 megawatts from the national grid, leaving a substantial supply gap against an estimated demand of 12,000 megawatts.

NDPHC, which has the largest power generation assets in Sub-Saharan Africa with an installed capacity of 4,000 megawatts, is focused on bridging this supply gap. Ojor emphasized that the company is prepared to support the Lagos State Electricity Regulatory Commission (LASERC) in enhancing electricity access in the state.

Temitope George, the MD of LASERC, reiterated the Lagos State government's commitment to improving electricity supply and expressed readiness to partner with NDPHC to achieve these goals.
