Ndume Condemns Boko Haram Attacks in Borno Communities

Senator Ali Ndume, representing Borno South, condemned the recent attacks by Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorists in communities within Gwoza and Askira Uba Local Government Areas of Borno State. The attacks occurred on a Saturday, affecting Ashigashiya village in Gwoza and Kopul village in Askira Uba, leading to significant property loss and the displacement of residents.

Reports indicate that the attackers invaded Ashigashiya village, allegedly setting houses on fire, which trapped disabled household members inside, resulting in deaths during the attack. Several residential houses were destroyed, and the assailants looted foodstuff and livestock.

Following the attacks, residents fled to nearby bushes for safety. In an interview with journalists in Maiduguri, Ndume expressed sympathy for the victims and renewed his call for the federal government to provide better equipment for security forces, emphasizing the need for modern military hardware to effectively combat insurgency.

He also commended the Nigerian Armed Forces, local security groups, and the Civilian Joint Task Force for their efforts against the insurgency.
