Ndume Urges FG to Secure Release of 400 Abducted Residents

Senator Ali Ndume, representing Borno South, has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Federal Government to intensify efforts to secure the release of 400 residents abducted from Ngosh Community in Gwoza Local Government Area, Borno State, last month. The abduction was attributed to suspected members of the Jama'atu Ahlis Sunna Lidda'awati wal-Jihad, a faction of Boko Haram.

Ndume made this appeal on Monday while speaking to journalists in Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State. He highlighted that the insurgents primarily abducted women and children, destroying the entire community, including military posts.

Although the Nigerian Army has recaptured Ngosh, Ndume urged the Federal Government to complement the efforts of the Borno State Government in resettling displaced residents. He also called for the release of N100 million for the reconstruction and rehabilitation of Ngosh and emphasized the need for immediate humanitarian intervention.

Ndume commended the resilience of the Nigerian Armed Forces and called for improved support and international collaboration to combat terrorism in the region.
