APC Elects Zonal Leaders in North East via Consensus

The North East chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) held a congress in Gombe on Wednesday, where zonal leaders were elected via consensus. The event was attended by Governor Mai Mala Buni, who is also the North East APC coordinator, along with lawmakers and party executives from the region.

Buni described the congress as a constitutional exercise aimed at strengthening party leadership and unity. He praised the North East for its culture of internal democracy and highlighted the region's significant role in Nigeria's political evolution.

Buni urged party members to resolve disputes through due process and to mobilize support for the APC's candidate, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, in the upcoming 2027 general elections. The congress concluded with a motion moved by former Senate President Ahmad Lawan and seconded by Chief Whip Usman Kumo, leading to the adoption of the consensus candidates for zonal offices.
