Kano State Tops NECO 2026 Exams, Governor Praises Efforts

In the 2026 NECO examinations, Kano State has been recognized as the Best-Performing State, achieving this distinction for the second consecutive year. Lagos and Oyo followed in second and third place, respectively.

Governor Abba Yusuf, through his spokesperson Sanusi Bature, praised the collective efforts of students, teachers, and parents, emphasizing that the state's ongoing investment in education is yielding significant results. The governor noted that Kano maintained its top position in NECO for both 2025 and 2026, with a focus on providing financial support to indigent students.

In 2026, the state government allocated over N4.4 billion specifically for Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination sponsorship. Governor Yusuf highlighted that education has consistently received the largest share of the state budget, with allocations increasing from 29.95% in 2024 to 30% in 2026.

His administration's educational policies have garnered national and international recognition, including multiple awards for educational development.
