Labour Party Denies Alex Otti's Alleged Defection to APC

The Abia State chapter of the Labour Party (LP) has officially addressed and dismissed reports claiming that Governor Alex Otti is set to defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC). Mazi Chidieber Okoro, the party's public secretary, described the allegations as false, misleading, and baseless.

The LP stated that there are no arrangements in place for Otti to defect and reaffirmed that he remains a committed and bona fide member of the Labour Party. The statement emphasized that Governor Otti is focused on governance and is not engaged in discussions regarding political realignment.

The Labour Party highlighted Otti's dedication to good governance, transparency, accountability, and inclusive development, noting ongoing projects aimed at improving citizen welfare and strengthening the state's economic base. The party criticized the spread of unverifiable information at a time when the government is consolidating development gains, urging media practitioners and the public to verify information from credible official sources.
