Six Suspects to Face Trial for Katsina Schoolboy Kidnapping

The Katsina State Police Command announced that six suspects will be arraigned in connection with the abduction of an eight-year-old boy. The incident occurred on May 13, 2026, when the boy was returning from an Islamic school.

The kidnappers initially demanded a ransom of N50 million but ultimately received N17 million after negotiations. The boy was released following the payment.

The police's newly established Violent Crime Response Unit acted on credible intelligence, leading to the arrest of the suspects on May 23, 2026. The identified suspects include Nura Aliyu, the alleged mastermind and neighbor of the victim's family, along with Abubakar Aminu, Ibrahim Muhammad, Iliyasu Sani, Abubakar Muhammad, and Abdullahi Ismail.

During the investigation, police recovered N7.5 million, a Peugeot 307, and a boxer motorcycle. The suspects have confessed to the crime, and further investigations are ongoing.
