NELFUND Condemns Tuition Fee Increases and Non-Refunds

The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has issued a statement condemning the refusal of certain tertiary institutions to refund tuition fees that students have already paid. NELFUND also criticized the arbitrary increase in tuition fees charged by these institutions, describing such actions as sabotage against President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's administration's efforts to alleviate financial barriers to higher education.

Oseyemi Oluwatuyi, the Director of Strategic Communications at NELFUND, stated that the organization is concerned about reports of these practices and is engaging with affected institutions and relevant authorities to ensure that due refunds are made to eligible students. NELFUND aims to maintain fairness, transparency, and consistency in its objectives, reaffirming its commitment to protecting students' interests and preserving the integrity of national interventions in education.
