NEMSA and NERC Collaborate to Enhance Power Safety

The Nigerian Electricity Management Services Agency (NEMSA) and the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening institutional collaboration to enhance safety oversight and regulatory compliance within Nigeria's electricity supply industry. This commitment was made during a visit by NEMSA's Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Olusegun Adesayo, to the leadership of NERC in Abuja.

The high-level engagement focused on deepening cooperation in critical areas such as electrical safety enforcement, technical inspections, certification of installations, and compliance monitoring across the power value chain. Adesayo emphasized the necessity of stronger synergy between the institutions to tackle persistent safety challenges, including electrical accidents, substandard installations, equipment failures, and non-compliance with approved technical regulations.

NERC Chairman Musiliu Oseni welcomed the initiative and reaffirmed the commission's readiness to work closely with NEMSA to advance sector reforms and improve overall performance in Nigeria's electricity supply industry, particularly in light of ongoing reforms and decentralized regulatory responsibilities.
