NEMSA and NERC Strengthen Safety Collaboration in Power

The Nigerian Electricity Management Services Agency (NEMSA) and the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) are deepening their collaboration to enhance safety enforcement within the power sector. This commitment was reaffirmed during a visit by NEMSA's Managing Director/CEO, Engr.

Olusegun M. Adesayo, to NERC's leadership in Abuja.

The agencies aim to strengthen institutional collaboration to improve regulatory compliance and technical standards across the Nigerian electricity supply industry. Engr.

Adesayo emphasized the importance of synergy between the institutions to tackle persistent safety challenges, including electrical accidents and non-compliance with approved technical regulations. NEMSA's statutory mandate includes inspecting, testing, and certifying electrical installations and equipment, which complements NERC's regulatory responsibilities.

Dr. Oseni, Chairman of NERC, welcomed this initiative and expressed the commission's readiness to work closely with NEMSA to advance sector reforms and improve overall performance, particularly in maintaining uniform technical standards across the country.
